In order to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, a webinar “New Perspective on Gandhara Civilisation and Cooperation among the Silk Road Countries’ was held on 20 September 2021.
Organised jointly by the Taxila Institute of Ancient Civilisations of Quaid e Azam University and Institute of Ancient Civilisations of Zhejiang University, the webinar was attended by the leading experts from Pakistan and China including Dr. Shahid A. Hashmat, Prince Miangul Aurangzeb, Dr. Ghani ur Rahman, Dr, Sadeed Arif, Professor Sun Yingang and Professor Li Xiguang.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, H.E. Mr. Moin ul Haque appreciated the Chinese and Pakistani experts for their academic research in Gandhara civilizational linkages which existed between the two countries along the ancient silk route. He said that as two countries are celebrating 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties, such events were important to celebrate the achievements of ancient Gandhara civilization as the common heritage of two countries.
The Ambassador reaffirmed that the Embassy of Pakistan would keep extending complete support and assistance to Chinese experts for exploring the various facets of Gandhara Civilisation.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
