In order to commemorate the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China, an International Conference of Deepening Higher Education Cooperation between Pakistan and China was held on 8-10 September 2021.
Organised by Bahria University Islamabad, the conference was attended by leading education experts from both sides including Ambassador Moin ul Haque; Mr. Masood Khan, former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Vice-Admiral Kaleem Shaukat, rector of Bahria University.
During his virtual speech at the occasion, Ambassador Moin said that Pakistan and China enjoyed a rich history of educational and technical cooperation. Expressing satisfaction at the growing educational linkages between the two countries, Ambassador Moin said that Pakistan was eager to deepen cooperation with China in areas of education, science and technology and innovation.
He expressed hope that both sides would continue to use existing mechanisms to foster stronger relations between the academic and research institutes and professionals of the two countries for joint benefit.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
