On 19th May 2021, a photographic exhibition was held at the Sichuan Normal University, Chengdu to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The photographic event displayed memorable pictures of last seven decades of Pakistan-China friendship which included high level exchanges, cultural activities and major milestones achieved by two countries in diverse fields of bilateral cooperation.
Speaking at the event, Professor Wang Mingyi, the President of Sichuan Normal University hailed Pakistan-China friendship and its contribution for the progress of the peoples of the two countries and regional peace and stability. He added that building upon the foundation of sound cooperation, both countries should continue their efforts to deepen their cooperation in cultural, people-to-people and trade and economic relations.
Mr. Mahmood Akhtar, the Acting Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu also addressed the event.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
