The Pakistan-China Friendship Groups of National Assembly of Pakistan and National People’s Congress of China held a webinar on 13 July 2021 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
As the Heads of Friendship Group of the two legislatures, the webinar was co-chaired by Mr. Noor Alam Khan, Member of National Assembly and Mr. Li Fei, the Director General of NPC’s Constitution and Law Committee. It was also attended by the members of friendship groups and notable parliamentarians from the two sides.
During the webinar, both sides paid rich tribute to seven decades of Pakistan-China friendship and lauded the role of the National Assembly and the NPC for furtherance of bilateral ties.
Expressing satisfaction at the steady development of growing inter-parliamentary relations, both sides noted that all-weather friendship between Pakistan and China provided a strong foundation for further enhancing bilateral engagements between the legislatures and political parties of the two countries.
During the event, the friendship groups of two countries reviewed ongoing inter-parliamentary cooperation between the National Assembly of Pakistan and the NPC and exchanged views on legislative measures in the fields of governance, agriculture, finance and socio-economic development.
They also agreed to maintain the momentum of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and make optimum use of existing linkages to deepen bilateral exchanges and explore new areas of cooperation in future.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
