To deepen industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China, a seminar was held today in Beijing on the theme of, ‘Industrial Cooperation and Development of Industrial Parks under CPEC’. The event was part of the activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China.
Co-hosted by China Civil Engineering Construction Cooperation (CCECC) and Research and Development International (RDI), the event was attended by Dr. Zhao Baige, the Vice-Chair of Foreign Affairs Committee of 12th NPC; Mr. Ying Xiong, the Director General of International Department of National Development and Reform Commission (NRDC), and Mr. Chen Sichang, the General Manager of CCECC.
Senior representatives of the leading enterprises of Chinese companies dealing in oil and gas, infrastructure development, paper and packaging, electronic appliances, agricultural machinery and ICT also participated in the event. The companies’ representative briefed the Ambassador about their ongoing projects and presented specific proposals for expanding their business operations in Pakistan.
Sharing their views, Dr. Zhao Baige and Director General (NDRC) underscored that Chinese government had always encouraged both its private enterprises and SOEs to explore and deepen business linkages with Pakistan. They expressed satisfaction at the steady pace of development of several SEZs in Pakistan being established under CPEC and encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest in the industrial sector of Pakistan.
Thanking Chinese businessmen for their interest, Ambassador Moin ul Haque briefed them about the favorable investment policies of Pakistan to attract foreign investment especially from China. He said that government of Pakistan has offered special incentives to Chinese businessmen for relocation of industries to Pakistan. He reiterated Pakistan’s complete commitment to all ongoing CPEC projects as envisaged by the leadership and peoples of the two countries.
The Ambassador expressed hope that Chinese businessmen would continue to prioritize Pakistan for trade and investment and benefit from country’s favourable business environment.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
