The Shanghai Institutes for International Studies and Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad hosted a seminar in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of China-Pakistan Diplomatic Relations in Shanghai on May 19.
Sha Hailin, Chairman of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Moin ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, were among those who attended the event.
During the seminar, ambassador ul Haque spoke highly of China-Pakistan relations and expressed confidence that the two sides would enhance partnership endeavors in the future.
Cheng Dongxiao, president of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, agreed that China and Pakistan should further strengthen strategic coordination and corporation.
“Adhering to the international rules centered on the United Nations and the principles of multilateralism, China and Pakistan should accelerate the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and promote interconnection with Central Asia and the Middle East to form a unified market,” he said.
Pakistan and China enjoy close and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1951. Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the People’s Republic of China. Over the years, the relationship has blossomed into an “all weather strategic cooperative partnership”. Pakistan considers China as one of its closest friend and partner and China considers Pakistan as its “Iron Brother”.
